United States Anglo-Indian Residents

Dear Contributors

My name is Preetam Agnoor. I am presently doing my PhD and the title of my thesis is “Occupational Changes Among the Anglo-Indians In Bangalore” from the University of Sambalpur, Orissa-India. I will be completing my PhD on the above subject in approx. 3 months and then would be pursuing a Postdoctoral fellow in one of the universities in the US. I am also short listed for the Fulbright Scholarship based on my research topic. I intend to study the Acculturation of the Anglo-Indians in America.

The study would aim to examine cultural, social, and psychological factors that determine, influence and reflect the stage of integration in the American context. I would also like to document the contribution of the Anglo-Indians to the American Society, the factors that led them to migrate from India and the basis of which America was chosen as a final destination.

Immigration related to facts and figures is not well documented and unfortunately no data exists to confirm the exact number to America. Whereas many studies were conducted on the Anglo-Indians in India, Australia, Canada and the UK, few, if any, were conducted on those in America. This is an attempt to fill the void.

For the purpose of the research I would any and all Anglo-Indians residing in the United States, to get in touch with me at a_preetam1@rediffmail.com. My research would be based on a Questionnaire, interactive sessions and interfaces.

I take this opportunity to complement Mr. Bert Payne for the wonderful work in compiling this website. It afforded me the opportunity to gain much information about the community and activities worldwide. Lastly, I am nostalgic about this wonderful community and would like to do as much as possible to preserve and retain the race which is diminishing in the country they were born.

Please provide me with the necessary information so that my research would do good to the community and help them in all walks of life.
