A  TIME  FOR  CHANGE

By Aubrey Millet

Potential    fault lines in  the  bowels  of  our  psyche

Waiting for Tsunamis to breach the dyke

Tectonic  plates  in seismic semi- slumber

Brooding, seething  cauldrons, rumblings of rancour

Belching bile and rancid to the taste

Ill-gotten  lucre is all the haste

Ghostly    silhouettes

Overturned   shibboleths

Chlorinated   countenance of   non-celibate  godmen

Ministerial  mafia  with gun-totting   gunmen

Politicians  wallowing  in murky   waters

Honour   killings and dowry   burnt daughters

Incompetence   Babus   schooled   at  Mussoorie

Totally subservient  to   a   minister’s   fury

Fissures   in   families

A   calculus of convulsions

Black  stains  on  white,   like  spotted  dalmations

Land   scams and  terrorists,  forest - land   reclamations

Residue   of   residents   putrefying  garbage

Concentric   circles   of   official   patronage

The   uncaring   politicians’   blatant   insouciance

Corroding   the   metal   of   a   nation’s   conscience

Collusions   of   silence

Official   compliance

Cesspools   of  corruption   and   plagiarized   science

Time   for  change  and  to   find   a   solution

Or   else  we   are   ripe  for   a  people’s   revolution.
